Where it came from
I built KanbanGPT as a passion project — partly to improve my programming ability, and partly because I was genuinely interested in the idea of creating a knowledge base for your tasks and having an AI assistant that can read, understand, and help you find information within it.
The idea came from my old job at a finance firm. We kept a lot of information about upcoming client interactions and bank dealings on a Kanban board. I liked the system, but once cards accumulated a lot of detail it became hard to find specific things quickly. I thought: what if the AI was just inside the board and already knew the context?
I want to be honest — this app may not turn out to be a widely useful tool. It was an idea in my head that seemed good, and I wanted to see what happens if I actually build it. I've tried to build it properly and avoid the "AI slop" approach to programming that's become so common. That's not to say I haven't used AI — I have — but I care about the craft and real understanding behind software systems.
What's next
KanbanGPT is currently a solo tool. If there's enough interest I'd love to build out multi-user support. Reach out with suggestions, bugs, or ideas — I'm genuinely open to all of it.
